Christmas With My Family

The author with Santa Claus

Before Christmas break, a friend said to me that all he cared about on Christmas was the presents. I replied that presents aren't everything, I care about my family.

This Christmas I asked Santa Claus for three things: a white Christmas, my family to be here, especially my cousin Delphine, and the L.O.L. Big Surprise toy. I was happy to get all of them!

I wished for a white Christmas because it hasn't snowed for the past few years. I like to play in the snow a lot. My family and I have snowball fights, build a snowman, and go sledding! Afterwards we have hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream. I also wanted snow because Santa would be able to come here on his sleigh easier. When I woke up Christmas morning, it had snowed!

I asked for my family to be here because I love them so much. Every Christmas Eve my grandparents on both sides of my family, my cousin Delphine, and one or two uncles are here. This year my cousin said she couldn't come at Christmas which made me very sad. I asked Santa before Christmas to let me see my cousin, and she arrived on December 23 and stayed until the evening of December 24! Again, my Christmas wish from Santa came true!

Christmas Eve Brunch

My parents invite our good friends the Natales over to have a Christmas Eve brunch. We have egg strata, Mexican dip, Christmas cookies, vegetables, chips, and dip, and other yummy foods. My cousin was there to be a part of the fun.

Before our friends come I setup my pink Christmas tree in my room. Then my mom brings up ornaments and I decorate the tree. Every night I go to bed with my little pink tree lit up as my nightlight. It is so peaceful and exciting!

When our friends leave my parents clean up the dishes and the family gathers in the living room and start opening presents from one another. We open by age order, youngest to oldest. I go first! Even though I love my family the most at Christmas, I still like getting presents! Who doesn't?!

My parents make an Italian pasta dinner. This year we had pasta with shrimp and white clam sauce. I loved it and I ate it all! For dessert we had more Christmas cookies!

After dinner I go running up stairs very fast and get my nightgown on and brush my teeth. Then I get in bed and mom reads The Night Before Christmas to my brothers and me. Even though I am excited for Christmas morning, I go right to sleep because I want Santa Claus to come.

On Christmas morning I awoke to find presents under my little pink Christmas tree and small gifts in my stockings I hang as decorations in my room. I was so surprised that I screamed which made Mom nervous! I told her to come upstairs because Santa had left me presents in my room!

Downstairs I was allowed to peak and see that Santa Claus had filled everyone's stocking, but I couldn't see if I had received my L.O.L. Big Surprise.

I was also very excited  because our family had a big breakfast and I got to bake a lot of it. We had eggs, a ham, potato, and cheese casserole, and donuts! Finally my grandparents arrived from their hotel. Then we opened our stockings that Santa Claus had filled and the rest of our presents.

After presents we played a game. The game we played  Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit. I didn't do well at that game, but my brother Gregory did!

Later we had lunch, which was cheese, crackers, and apples.  I played with my L.O.L. Big Surprise which I did get from Santa Claus after all. I opened it for a long time, and played with it a lot. I'm still playing with it!

For dinner my family sat around the dining room table eating turkey dinner on my mom's Christmas Tree plates. I helped set the table with her fine silver and pretty glasses. This year I even got to use a pretty glass!

Presents are really great, and I am so happy I did get my L.O.L Big Surprise for Christmas, but most of all Christmas is Family, Food, Fun, and making memories together.
